Dan Stevens to reunite with Adam Wingard for Godzilla vs. Kong sequel

May 13, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

It will be Dan Stevens vs. Godzilla vs. Kong in the untitled sequel to Adam Wingard’s kaiju blockbuster, with the news that The Guest duo will reunite for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ next Monsterverse movie.

This kaiju cinematic universe has always managed to draw an impressive roll-call of actors to scurry around the feet of CGI beasties – Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Kyle Chandler, Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston – and now Deadline are reporting that the first name to be added to the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel is a man who knows his fair share about beasts; Dan Stevens.

With production due to get underway in Australia sometime this summer, the sequel, which will surely have to drop the ‘vs.’ from the title now that the two monsters are best buddies, affords Wingard and Stevens the chance to work together again following the success of 2014’s excellent action-thriller The Guest.

Godzilla vs. Kong was one of the first blockbusters to wade into the uncertain ruin of the pandemic-era cinemagoing landscape, stomping its way to a global haul of $468M, despite being available day-and-date as part of Warner Media’s 2021 release strategy.

Does this news make you even more excited for some monster mayhem, or couldn’t you care less about the human element of these films? Let us know by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth….
