The Suicide Squad’s Daniela Melchior reunites with James Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

June 3, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

After his foray into the DCEU with The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, director James Gunn is now back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe fold as he begins post-production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and it seems he’s brought one of his Task Force X members with him.

Although filming on Guardians Vol. 3 – and Disney+’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special – wrapped last month, Deadline is just bringing word that Ratcatcher II actress Daniela Melchior is part of the film’s cast. It’s unclear what role Melchior will be portraying or how big her role will be, although the trade does note that she is not playing the character of Moondragon, as some had speculated online.

The Suicide Squad marked Portuguese actress Melchior’s English-language debut,. She is currently shooting Fast X alongside Vin Diesel and family, and will also be seen with Liam Neeson in Neil Jordan’s Marlowe.

I can confirm (and confirm she’s wonderful in the role). @MelchiorDaniela is one of my favorite people & actors around, & I hope this is just the second of many projects we’ll work on together. https://t.co/axKiZatcue

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the return of Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Sylvester Stallone (Stakar Ogord) and Elizabeth Debecki (Ayesha), alongside MCU newcomers Will Poulter (Dopesick) as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji (Peacemaker) and Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set for release on May 5th 2023.
