Zazie Beetz to return for Joker: Folie À Deux

August 9, 2022 by Ricky Church

With Warner Bros. and director Todd Phillips gearing up to shoot Joker: Folie À Deux later this year, Deadline is reporting that Zazie Beetz (Bullet Train) has begun talks to reprise her role in the Joker sequel.

Beetz portrayed Sophie Dumond, Arthur Fleck’s neighbour and a single mother to a young girl. Arthur becomes infatuated with Sophie and stalks her to work, eventually having delusions that they are in a romantic relationship.

Assuming negotiations are successful, Beetz will reunite with Joaquin Phoenix once again as Arthur/Joker, as well as Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Joker: Folie À Deux is heavily rumoured to be a musical, something strengthened by both Lady Gaga’s casting and the announcement teaser Phillips and Gaga released last week.

Joker was a huge success for Warner Bros. and DC, grossing over $1 billion at the box office and earning Joaquin Phoenix an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Arthur Fleck.

Joker: Folie À Deux will begin production in December for an October 4th, 2024 release date.
