Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader to make MCU return in Captain America: New World Order

September 11, 2022 by Gary Collinson

While Marvel kept the major reveals to a minimum at D23 Expo this weekend, the studio’s big Saturday presentation at the Disney convention did offer up some casting news on the 2024 sequel Captain America: New World Order.

Confirmed to appear alongside Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Captain America in the film are Mackie’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-stars Carl Lumbly (Isaiah Bradley) and Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), with the latter set to serve as the new Falcon.

While those additions weren’t entirely unexpected, Marvel also announced that it will finally set to pay off one of the early MCU’s biggest teases as Tim Blake Nelson reprises the role of Dr. Samuel Sterns from The Incredible Hulk, whom when we last saw him way back in 2008, was beginning his transformation into the criminal mastermind The Leader,

Along with the returning faces, the New World Order casting announcements also included a brand new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Shira Haas (Unorthodox) set to appear in the role of Ruth Bat-Seraph, the Israeli superhero known as Sabra.
