Star Wars: The Acolyte cast announced as filming begins on the High Republic series

November 8, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Get ready to venture to the High Republic era for the very first time on screen, as Lucasfilm has officially announced that production is underway on the Disney+ original series Star Wars: The Acolyte.

Created by showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), The Acolyte takes place around a century prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and is described as “a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”

Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies) leads the cast of The Acolyte, and will star alongside Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Top Gun: Maverick), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

The logline for Star Wars: The Acolyte reads: ” A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”

Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to air on Disney+ in 2023.
