M. Night Shyamalan teases at least three more upcoming movies

February 7, 2023 by EJ Moreno

If there’s something we can rely on every few years, it’s a hectic political season and a new M. Night Shyamalan film. We can confirm we will at least see more from the polarizing filmmaker in the coming years.

In a recent interview, Shyamalan opened up about his insane work schedule, which 2023 alone includes the hit new film Knock at The Cabin and the final season of his Apple TV+ series Servant, releasing its series finale on March 17th. But he won’t stop there, as he’s adding three more films to his legacy.

Sitting down with Collider, Shyamalan spills on his upcoming work slate, teasing the numerous upcoming projects. “Yeah, it’s a really odd moment. Both very wonderful and confusing because I have three movie ideas. I even have the structure of all three to some extent. And so it’s a very weird and interesting situation I’m feeling,” teases the filmmaker.

“I wish I could tell them faster. I wish I could get there faster, but there is no shortcut. I have to spend the six to nine months to write it. I have to storyboard for three months, and then we have pre-production, and then shooting it, and edit for as long as I can get every single second.”

Since 2013, Shyamalan has released six films (After Earth, The Visit, Split, Glass, Old, Knock At The Cabin) and launched two cult classic series, Wayward Pines and Servant. Given his recent output, the outlet asked if we’ll get the next one within two years or all three new films within the next six years. He responds with hope, “Definitely, but I’m hoping to do it a tiny bit faster than that. Let’s see if I can handle it.”

Shyamalan’s latest Knock At The Cabin scored a number one opening, the seventh of his career. The film also made back its modest $20 million in just its global opening, confirming we will see this filmmaker return time and time again.

While vacationing at a remote cabin, a young girl and her parents are taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand that the family make an unthinkable choice to avert the apocalypse. With limited access to the outside world, the family must decide what they believe before all is lost.

Featuring in the cast of Knock at the Cabin are Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Kristen Cui, Abby Quinn, and Rupert Grint.

Knock at the Cabin is out now in cinemas.
