Amy Jo Johnson says her not returning for Power Rangers reunion has nothing to do with money

March 28, 2023 by EJ Moreno

We near the 30th anniversary of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers and prepare for the Netflix special that sees some of the most iconic cast members return.

One cast member is not returning, and that’s the original Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson. While many have speculated on why she has chosen not to return, alongside the late Jason David Frank, she has cleared up allegations that it was due to money issues in recent tweets.

Johnson tweets, “Please stop saying I didn’t do reunion because of money Simply not true. Maybe I just didn’t want to wear spandex in my 50s 🤣 or couldn’t go to NZ for a month.Or none of ur beeswax 🐝 JDF & I both chose not to for our own reasons. They filmed before he passed. #PowerRangers”

She does add she is thrilled to see her co-stars and long-time friends return. Adding in another tweet, “Excited to see my pals @David_Yost & @Walterejones rock it though!!”

These tweets follow a Janurary 18th tweet saying she simply didn’t “say yes to what was offered.” No matter what, her presence will be missed in the 30th-anniversary special.

Thirty years after the wise and powerful Zordon formed the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the team comes face to face with a familiar threat from the past. In the midst of a global crisis, they are called on once again to be the heroes the world needs. This 30th Anniversary Special is inspired by the legendary mantra from the franchise “Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger,” meaning once you become part of the Ranger family, you are always welcome back.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always arrives on Netflix on April 19th.
