Gal Gadot opens up about her future in film outside of Wonder Woman

June 20, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Gal Gadot isn’t moving away from acting, but it seems the actress will focus on more personal projects. This news comes after the cancellation of Patty Jenkins’ third Wonder Woman and ahead of the planned DC Studios reboot. With Gadot’s time as Wonder Woman most likely coming to a close, the actress is finding more time to create projects, not just star in them.

Speaking to Total Film during a promo for her new film Heart of Stone, Gadot opens up about her future in filmmaking, which seems to be producing and possibly even helming some of her movies.

This shift came when she said she began to arrive in the creative space. Gadot tells Total Film, “To me, starting and developing stories that I’m passionate about is an incredible thing. I enjoy doing it. It keeps me alive.”

Gadot does note that she’s “not only going to do my own projects, I’m going to work as an actress-for-hire still,” but it’s obvious her passions are starting to fall into the creative process.

She concludes, “The fact that I can go ahead and tell the stories that I’m passionate about – from ideas that I conceived, or from ideas that I find fascinating from people that want to partner with us – it’s an incredible thing.”

While any future appearances of Gadot as Wonder Woman seem unlikely at this point, fans can next see her in Netflix’s Heart of Stone, arriving this August. Watch the trailer here.

Gal Gadot is Agent Rachel Stone, the only intelligence operative who stands between her global peace-keeping organization and the loss of its most valuable — and dangerous — asset, codenamed: The Heart.

Featuring in the cast of Heart of Stone are Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt and Matthias Schweighöfer

Heart of Stone will stream on Netflix from August 11th.
