20th Century Fox rebooting Alien Nation

March 27, 2015 by Gary Collinson

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that 20th Century Fox is planning a reboot of the 1988 sci-fi film Alien Nation, with Iron Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway signing on to develop the script.

Alien Nation starred Mandy Patinkin as the first alien police officer, who found himself partnered up with a reluctant, racially insensitive veteran detective, played by James Caan. The movie went on to spawn a TV series, along with five made-for-TV movies and a selection of comic books and novels.

Plot details for the reboot are being kept under wraps, but it is said that the movie will explore how and why the alien race came to Earth, with Fox envisioning it as the first chapter of a franchise.
