Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won’t feature a single-player campaign

April 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

According to Polygon, Activision will be shaking things up a little with this year’s entry in the Call of Duty series, with the site reporting that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won’t feature a single-player campaign, and will instead focus on online multiplayer and Zombies.

The outlet cites an anonymous source who revealed that the campaign mode would not be completed in time for the game’s release, so the decision was made to focus on expanding the multiplayer and Zombies modes instead. Apparently there will also be an increased emphasis on co-op modes.

As yet, the report has not been confirmed by Activision, but Kotaku is corroborating the story, as well as claiming that Black Ops IV will include a battle royale mode in an effort to capitalise on the success of Fortnite and PUBG.

Should Black Ops 4 ship without a single-player campaign, it will be the first instalment in the Call of Duty series to do so.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set for release on October 12th, with a reveal coming on May 17th.
