Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse villains and Peter Parker casting revealed

April 26, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man makes his return to the big screen today in Avengers: Infinity War, but it isn’t the only Spidey movie we have to look forward to this year as Sony unleashes its animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

During Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon this week, it was revealed that the movie will feature three villains – The Prowler, The Kingpin, and Ultimate Green Goblin.

The Prowler is being voiced by Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage), while Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is also confirmed to be voicing one of the villains, although it’s unclear whether it will be Kingpin or the Goblin.

Meanwhile, in one other piece of news, New Girl and Jurassic World star Jake Johnson is set to lend his voice to a middle-aged Peter Parker.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is directed by Bob Persichetti (The Little Prince) and Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians) from a script by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie). Shameik Moore (The Get Down) lends his voice to Miles Morales, with Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage) and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) as Miles’ uncles Aaron and Jefferson Davis, Jake Johnson (New Girl) as Peter Parker and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) as an as-yet-unrevealed villain.
