Solo: A Star Wars Story suggests that Han shot first

May 22, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The writers of Solo: A Star Wars Story have ensured that their film gives the impression that Han shot first.

One of the most discussed moments in the original Star Wars trilogy is the scene where Han kills Greedo in A New Hope. In the theatrical version, Han shoots the bounty hunter first but George Lucas has since changed events to show that Greedo actually fires on Han, causing Solo to fire back.

This has been a huge point of contention as it directly speaks to Han’s character and the writers of Solo have revealed that they are on the ‘Han shot first’ team, having written a scene for the film that touches on this moment.

Speaking to Uproxx, the writers reveal that they made a deliberate attempt to return Han to his initial portrayal:“Yeah. It was very important to me, like top of the list” Lawrence Kasdan admitted, with Jonathan Kasdan adding: “To both of us. We are firmly in the camp. In the script, the description literally says, ‘There can be no doubt Han shot first.’”

Are you happy that the Kasdan’s are attempting to weigh in on this moment in Star Wars history and that there will be a scene in Solo to subtly support the ‘Han shot first’ camp?
