Chloe Grace Moretz rules out a Hit-Girl return after the way Kick-Ass 2 was handled

June 23, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last week, it was announced that Matthew Vaughn is looking to reboot the Kick-Ass franchise through his newly-established Marv Studios, as well as developing a solo film based around the character of Hit-Girl.

The lethal young crimefighter was played by Chloe Grace Moretz in Vaughn’s Kick-Ass and its 2013 sequel, but it seems that won’t be the case in the proposed solo movie, as Moretz has revealed that she has no interest in reprising the role.

“I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special,” said Moretz (via IndieWire). “I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all. As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I kind of want to keep her there. I kinda wanna keep everyone’s mind in Kick-Ass. So I don’t think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at least I don’t think with Hit-Girl in it.”

The expectation is that the new Kick-Ass movie will take inspiration from the current run of comics, featuring the character of Patience Lee as the titular hero. As for Hit-Girl, unless Moretz has a change of heart, it looks like Vaughn and company will need to look elsewhere for their Mindy McCready.
