Bryce Dallas Howard joins Rocketman as Elton John’s mother

July 29, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom star Bryce Dallas Howard has become the latest addition to the cast of the Elton John biopic Rocketman, where she will play the music icon’s mother.

The film is being directed by Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle) and will detail John’s life from his emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to a music superstar.

Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) is portraying John, while the cast also include Jamie Bell (Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool) as his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin and Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) as his long-time manager John Reid.

Rocketman is being produced by Matthew Vaughn through his Marv Films banner, as well as Elton John and David Furnish of Rocket Pictures. It is scheduled for release on May 17th 2019.
