The Walking Dead cast tell fans what to expect from season 9

August 7, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The cast of AMC’s The Walking Dead have discussed what fans should expect from the upcoming ninth season of the show.

With all the changes afoot with the anticipated ninth season of the zombie drama series The Walking Dead, such as lead actor Andrew Lincoln leaving the show and an 18 month time jump, it’s safe to say that the next set of episodes is going to be quite different.

What shall we be looking out for? Well, the cast of the TWD have been speaking about events in the show’s future and what to expect from the new season on last Sunday’s The Talking Dead (via ComicBook.com):

“I think what fans are going to enjoy most about this season is how much is happening. There’s tons of change and it’s really exciting,” said Maggie actress Lauren Cohan.

“I think what’s really exciting is the world has evolved. It’s so funny, because it’s not a progression, it’s de-gression,” said Danai Gurira who plays Michonne, “which happens when you’re basically in a post-apocalyptic world. What’s gonna be really exciting I think for the fans [is] to see how we’re adapting to that. We have a whole new normal when we get back, it’s exactly what would happen.”

“It’s really cool to see how they have restructured their lives. We see our heroes start to relax a little bit more into themselves,” said Ross Marquand, who plays Aaron. “I mean, there’s still a lot of hurt that they’re sorting through, but now they’re finally starting to come into their own and just accept the world as it is. They’re not trying to fight against it.”

Norman Reedus, who is expected to replace Andrew Lincoln as the show’s lead, said: “It’s the same show, but it’s a different show. It has a new soundtrack, you know what I mean? It really, really does.”

And regarding the departing Lincoln, the actor said that this new season recaptures the feeling of Frank Darabont’s season one: “It feels like the show I fell in love with nine years ago, it feels like we’re making that version again.”

Are you looking forward to the new season of The Walking Dead? Many fans will surely be eagerly anticipating what the re-worked series will have in store for them.
