Chris Hemsworth says Thor: The Dark World is “meh”

August 21, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Chris Hemsworth has stated on several occasions that he felt that his last two outings as the God of Thunder in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War left him with “a renewed sense of excitement and enthusiasm” over his Marvel role, after being “a little restricted” in his previous outings.

Now, in an interview with GQ, Hemsworth has reflected on his first two solo movies, with the actor admitting that – like many fans – he was left a little disappointed by the 2013 sequel Thor: The Dark World.

“The first one is good, the second one is meh,” said Hemsworth, who will be back as Thor for his seventh outing in next year’s Avengers 4. “What masculinity was, the classic archetype – it just all starts to feel very familiar. I was so aware that we were right on the edge.”

Hemsworth’s original contract with Marvel was fulfilled with Avengers 4, but the star has suggested that – as a result of the character’s evolution – he is open to extending his stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That’s assuming he survives his next encounter with Thanos, of course…
