Mark Wahlberg eyed for Peter Berg’s Boston Marathon bombing film Patriot’s Day

August 6, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Variety is reporting that director Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) is in final talks to helm CBS Films’ film about the Boston Marathon bombing entitled Patriots Day, with Mark Wahlberg (Ted 2) rumoured to be joining him.

The film, one of three separate projects about the tragic events in April 2013 in pre-production, is being produced by Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark under their Bluegrass Films company alongside Wahlberg. And with Wahlberg attached as producer, he has now had his name linked to the film, which would be his fourth collaboration with Berg after Lone Survivor and upcoming Mile 22 and Deepwater Horizon.

This film will focus on the story of Boston Police commissioner Ed Davis, the role which Wahlberg is linked. Matt Charman, who had written Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film Bridge of Spies, is penning the screenplay.
