Armie Hammer joins Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie sequel Death on the Nile

October 4, 2018 by Ricky Church

Just days after casting Wonder Woman 1984 star Gal Gadot, Kenneth Branagh has chosen yet another actor to star in Death of the Nile, an adaptation of renowned mystery writer Agatha Christie’s novel. According to The Wrap, Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name) has joined the film, which is a sequel to Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express from last year.

The new film, based on Christie’s 1937 novel, will see Kenneth Branagh back behind the camera, and he is also expected to reprise his role as master detective Hercule Poiroit, who finds himself investigating a murder on a luxurious Nile Cruise. However, as he closes in on the killer, several of his suspects meet their demise, deepening the mystery further. Though Gadot will portray heiress Linnett Ridgeway Doyle in the film, Hammer’s role has not yet been revealed.

Murder on the Orient Express was a surprise hit for 20th Century Fox, earning $352.7 million worldwide off its $55 million budget. Hammer will be seen next in the Ruth Bader Ginsberg biopic On The Basis of Sex opposite Felicity Jones.

Death on the Nile will be released December 20th, 2019.
