Peter Dinklage joins The Croods 2

October 7, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Emmy-winning Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has been cast in DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming sequel The Croods 2.

The sequel to the Oscar-nominated 2013 film will see the return of Nicolas Cage (Grug), Emma Stone (Eep), Ryan Reynolds (Guy), Catherine Keener (Ugga), Cloris Leachman (Gran) and Clark Duke (Thunk) and pits the Croods against their biggest threat – another family. Dinklage is set to voice the character of Phil Betterman, with Leslia Mann (Blockers) as Hope Betterman.

The Croods 2 was originally slated for release in 2017, but Universal put the project on hold back in 2016 following Comcast’s acquisition of DreamWorks Animation. It is now slated for release on September 18th 2020, with Joel Crawford (head of story on Trolls) directing.

Dinklage, who recently won his third Emmy for his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, will be back for the final season of the HBO fantasy series in 2019. He also has the HBO film My Dinner with Herve incoming this month [watch the trailer here], and recently signed on to produce and star in a Rumpelstiltskin movie.
