Ben Affleck films The Accountant and Live By Night delayed by Warner Bros.

August 8, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

After reports yesterday that Ben Affleck is set to sign-up for three solo Batman films, following a positive reception to a private screening of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it has now been revealed that Warner Bros. Pictures has delayed two of the star’s upcoming films.

Live By Night, a crime-drama that would have been Affleck’s directorial follow-up to Argo, and The Accountant, directed by Gavin O’Connor and due to co-star J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) and Anna Kendrick (Into The Woods), have both been put on the back-burner by the studio.

Affleck has already cast Zoe Saldana, Sienna Miller and Elle Fanning to star alongside him in Live By Night, so it remains to be seen whether they will follow him to the film’s new date, which has been set for 2017 after originally being slated for October 2016. Meanwhile, The Accountant is now bumped to October 2016 from its original relase of January of the same year.

It is said that they films’ delay is down to Warner Bros. wanting Affleck to focus on his Dark Knight duties in the forthcoming Batman solo film and the two-parter Justice League, which starts filming in Spring next year.
