AMC’s The Terror season 2 sets its lead in Derek Mio

October 20, 2018 by Gary Collinson

AMC has found its lead for the second season of its acclaimed anthology series The Terror, with Deadline reporting that Derek Mio (Greek, Lethal Weapon) is set to take on the role of Chester Nakayama.

The second season is set in America during World War II and centres “on an uncanny specter that menaces a Japanese-American community from its home in Southern California to the internment camps to the war in the Pacific.”

Mio’s character Chester Nakayama is described as “the son of Japanese born immigrants who has dreams of leaving his insular Japanese-American community and joining the army” and the ten-episode season will explore his transformation from a naive kid to a war hero.

Season two of The Terror has been co-created by Alexander Woo (True Blood) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island) with Woo serving as showrunner and Josef Kubota Wladyka (Narcos) directing the first episode. Ridley Scott executive produces on behalf of Scott Free Productions.

The acclaimed first season of The Terror was based on Dan Simmons’ bestselling novel of the same name told a fictionalised account of Captain Sir John Franklin’s lost expedition to the Arctic. The second season is slated to air on AMC in 2019.
