Adam Wingard to direct Outcast pilot

August 13, 2015 by Joshua Gill

A month after its first poster was released ahead of its San Diego Comic-Con panel, Robert Kirkman’s Outcast has begun filming for its first season. Rumours of who was set to direct the pilot have finally been confirmed, with Adam Wingard (The Guest) posting a photo to his twitter page stating, “Outcast Season one officially starts filming today!”

Outcast follows Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of Reverend Anderson, a country preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers to obtain a normal life he has never known. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate — and the fate of the world — forever.

Thanks to @thegunblazer for making my new director chair back for Outcast. He knows me well. pic.twitter.com/RYJhkobMn2

Director of last year’s thriller/horror hit, The Guest and You’re Next, Adam Wingard has quickly risen in the film and television industry, and is currently attached to a number of projects, including the American remake of the Korean cinematic, I Saw the Devil.

Those of you invested into the horror genre might well remember director Adam Wingard from his appearance in the horror anthology, The ABC’s of Death, in which he directed and stared in the segment Q is for Quack, showcasing his oddball combination of horror and comedy. These attributes have transpired to his successive filming projects, developing strongly as seen in The Guest.  We can only assume to see more of the same from the flourishing film maker in Outcast, with his director’s chair reading, “The guy who fetishizes everything” in place of his name.
