Voltage Pictures sets Sharks vs Killer Whale thriller Alphas

November 4, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Voltage Pictures has tapped Aliens of the Deep director Steven Quale to direct Alphas, an aquatic thriller scripted by Frank Hannah (The Cooler), reports Variety.

The film will see a small coastal town terrorised by a school of great white sharks, and the residents’ only hope is a damaged killer whale which has been kept in solitary confinement for years after killing its trainer.

“[Alphas] is highly commercial yet sophisticated,” said producer Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker). “Steven Quale has a formidable track record of bringing beautifully made blockbusters.”

In addition to Aliens of the Deep, Quale’s C.V. includes the horror sequel Final Destination 5 and disaster flick Into the Storm.
