Bryan Cranston talks Godzilla, says his character’s fate “was a mistake”

August 15, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Following his appearance in last year’s Godzilla, Bryan Cranston has been speaking to The Nerdist about the film, most notably his character Joe Brody.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Godzilla was a sizeable hit last summer taking in over $528 million worldwide, but while the film was considered a success (a sequel is on the way), one of the negatives was the journey of Cranton’s character, and it seems the actor wasn’t impressed by his early exit.

“That character dying at that time was a mistake,” states Cranston. “I knew it when I read it. When I read it I said, ‘Oh, page 50 this character who was the emotional core at the center, that was guiding the audience in the story up to that point – he dies?’ What a waste.”

Do you agree with Cranston? Was is a mistake to kill him off so early? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
