Top 10 WWE Main Roster Superstars of 2018

December 18, 2018 by Liam Hoofe

Liam Hoofe rounds up the top 10 WWE stars of 2018…

It’s been an incredibly interesting year to be a WWE fan. Perhaps more than any other year in recent memory, there has been some serious highs and lows for the company, with Daniel Bryan’s return to the ring being a serious high, while Roman Reigns’s tragic revelation that he is battling leukaemia being a heart-breaking low.

From an in-ring perspective, the company has continued to thrive, even if the creative side of things has taken a serious slump. Narrowing down just 10 superstars was an extremely tricky task, and so that the list didn’t just become NXT dominated, I have decided to focus on just the main roster and 205 Live here.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 WWE Superstars of 2018

10: The Miz

The Miz’s year has ended on a bit of a whimper, with the former WWE and Intercontinental Champion currently locked into a bizarre storyline with SmackDown Commissioner, Shane McMahon but the first 10 months of 2018 saw The Miz continue his excellent form from 2017.

His excellent Intercontinental Championship run was brought to an end in a great match at WrestleMania 34, but before jumping to SmackDown he would put on another excellent match with Seth Rollins at Backlash.

Since moving to the blue brand, The Miz has had some excellent matches, especially with Daniel Bryan, and he could even be considered as an outside favourite to win next year’s Royal Rumble match.

9: Daniel Bryan

What an incredible year it’s been for Daniel Bryan.

The former SmackDown GM returned his return to the ring back in April, and just 8 months later finds himself carrying the WWE title belt around his waist.

While things got off to a rocky start, what with the WWE booking him to feud with Big Cass, Bryan found his feet in the Summer when he entered into a long-anticipated feud with The Miz. After an exceptional match at SummerSlam, things continued to get better for Bryan, and his recent heel turn and WWE title cemented what have been an incredible 12 months for the former leader of the Yes! movement.

8: Drew McIntyre

Fingers crossed, but it looks as though the WWE is finally going to do Drew McIntyre justice.

The former Chosen One has quickly established himself as one of the top performers in the WWE throughout 2018 and the future is looking very bright indeed for The Scottish Psychopath.

While his booking as of late has been a little bit questionable, hopefully, the whole thing is designed to get him over in the end, and he is currently being considered as one of the favourites to win the 2019 Royal Rumble.

Not bad for a guy whose last WWE run saw him teaming up with Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater and losing to El Torito.
