Matthew Lillard disappointed that he’s been replaced as Shaggy for new Scooby-Doo movie

March 3, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Scooby-Doo and the Mystery, Inc. gang are set to return to the big screen for the first time since 2004 next year with a brand new movie from Warner Animation Group, and THR has brought word of the first castings for the film.

As reported by the site, legendary voice actor Frank Welker will reprise his role as Scooby, with Will Forte (Last Man on Earth) as Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as Velma and Morgan (30 Rock) taking on the role of another Hanna-Barbera character, Captain Caveman!

The announcement that Forte will voice Scooby’s best friend Shaggy was news to Matthew Lillard, who succeeded Casey Kasem as the voice of the character following his roles in the two-live action films, and his since portrayed Shaggy in a host of animated features.

Well this sucks.
What a crappy way to find out…. thanks Hollywood. You never sense to amaze me. https://t.co/QDdlMAqlrZ
