Steve Irwin biopic in the works for tenth anniversary of his death

September 16, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Terri Irwin, the widow of “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, has reportedly given the green light for a biopic of her husband to be produced in advance of the tenth anniversary of his death next year.

New Idea reports that the family of the Australian conservationist and TV personality have finally given permission for a film to be made about his life.

Their source said that the family would love for a film to be released in 2016, as September 4th marks ten years since Irwin was killed by a stingray barb whilst filming a documentary.

The source continues with the news that the star’s daughter, Bindi, would like Australian actor Hugh Jackman to play her father.

Steve Irwin has appeared on the big screen before, playing himself in 2002 family movie The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course.
