Tomb Raider movie sequel enlists screenwriter Amy Jump

April 17, 2019 by Gary Collinson

While last year’s Tomb Raider movie reboot didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, it did prove to be a solid enough hit for MGM and Warner Bros. with $275 million worldwide, so much so that it seems the studios are now prepping a second outing for Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft.

According to Deadline, MGM has tapped screenwriter Amy Jump to write the script for a sequel to the video game adaptation, with Vikander having apparently been impressed by Jump’s previous work, including her collaborations with husband Ben Wheatley on the likes of Kill List, High Rise and Free Fire.

Vikander is confirmed as reprising her role as the iconic video game heroine, but as yet there’s no word on whether Roar Uthaug will be back in the director’s chair for the second movie.
