Everest retains top spot at the UK box office

UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 25th September to Sunday 27th September 2015…

Having topped the chart last week, Everest retained first place at the second time of asking, pulling in £1,996,439 ahead of Legend, which has now become the highest-grossing British 18 certificate film of all time on these shores with £13.27 million and counting.

Only two newcomers managed to crack the top ten, with both of them failing to reach the half million mark. The highest of the two was drama Miss You Already starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette, which debuted in fourth place with £487,247, followed by thriller Solace in sixth with £340,537

Ridley Scott’s sci-fi epic The Martian (cert. 12A) opens in UK cinemas today, while Friday’s newcomers include The Intern (cert. 12A) starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk (cert. PG) featuring, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the Michael Fassbender / Marion Cotillard-headlined Macbeth (cert. 15), and anime Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ (cert. TBC).
