NBC revives A.P. Bio for third season on upcoming streaming service

July 18, 2019 by Ricky Church

After cancelling the Mike O’Brien comedy A.P. Bio in May, NBC has now reversed course and has renewed it for a third season. The series, which stars Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Tom Bennett (David Brent: Life on the Road) and Patton Oswalt (Happy!), will air on NBC’s upcoming streaming service.

The sudden revival was due in large part to outcry from the show’s fans over its cancellation as well as a boost in digital viewership during its second season, second only to Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

“I’m so overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the fans,” said showrunner O’Brien. “The cast and I are thrilled that we get to make more and I’m excited to work with the NBCU streaming platform.”

A.P. Bio follows “a disgraced Harvard philosophy scholar (Howerton) who returns to hometown Toledo, Ohio, as a high school Advanced Placement biology (hence, AP Bio) teacher.”

The series also stars Aparna Brielle (The Dead Girl’s Detective Agency), Jacob Houston (American Vandal), Allisyn Arm (Astrid Clover), Nick Peine (Office Christmas Party), and Eddie Leavy (Those Who Can’t).
