Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds is coming to Switch

July 31, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Developer Obsidian has announced The Outer Worlds, the upcoming sci-fi RPG is coming to the Nintendo Switch. The news came from an announcement trailer which you can watch below…

In the video, Matthew Singh, Senior Producer of The Outer Worlds, stated that Obsidian is working alongside Virtuos – who previously ported Dark Souls and L.A. Noire to the Switch – to assist with the port of the game. Additionally, Singh also explained the Switch port will come to the console following the launch on other systems.

The Outer Worlds is a single-player sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division that appears to be in the same vein as the Fallout series – Obsidian, of course, was the studio behind the beloved Fallout: New Vegas which is arguably the best instalment to date. According to the official Steam page, the synopsis describes The Outer Worlds as the following:

Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

Although the Switch port doesn’t have a release date just yet, The Outer Worlds is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on 25th October with the port following at some point after this date.
