First trailer for Sam Mendes’ World War I epic 1917

Universal Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for 1917, the new film from Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall), which stars George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman as two young soldiers in the First World War who find themselves charged with a seemingly impossible mission to save the lives of 1,600 men. At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers— Blake’s own brother among them.

1917 is set for release on Christmas Day 2019 in North America and on January 10th 2020 in the UK, and features a cast that includes George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Claire Duburcq, with Colin Firth, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
