THQ Nordic, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Oasis Games Limited have announced Monkey King: Hero is Back, an action-adventure game based on the popular Chinese movie of the same name, is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PC on 17th October. Like the movie, the action-adventure game follows the story of a young monk Liuer, his hero Sun Wukong, and Pigsy, who embark on a journey whilst fighting a variety of monsters using numerous skills and magic, while deepening the friendship between them. Hero is Back places the focus on the Monkey King himself while also introducing players to various stories and subplots not found in the movie.
There’ll be two versions of the game, both available digitally and physically. For players who pre-order the Standard Edition will get access to two exclusive game modes and a PlayStation 4 theme. Meanwhile, the more expensive Hero Edition – available only digitally – will allow players to gain the game’s Season Pass – allowing access to two further story-based expansions and several in-game items. Pre-orders for both editions on PlayStation 4 will begin today on 14th August 2019 and pre-orders for PC will begin on 19th August.
