Chris Cooper joins Amazon’s Homecoming season 2

September 5, 2019 by Ricky Church

Chris Cooper (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) has been cast in Amazon’s Homecoming. He will star opposite new addition Janelle Monáe (Hidden Figures) in the psychological crime series.

Cooper will play Leonard Geist, an eccentric botanist who is more at home in his greenhouse than in the boardrooms of the company he created. Monáe plays a woman who finds herself floating in a canoe, with no memory of how she got there — or even who she is.

Homecoming is based upon the podcast from Gimlet Media. The second season will deviate from the podcast and introduce new characters in a new story. The only returning cast members from the first season will be Stephan James and Hong Chau.

The podcast was created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, who also serve as the series’ executive producers and showrunners. While season one was directed by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), Kyle Patrick Alvarez (13 Reasons Why) will take over directing duties for the second season.  The first season starred Julia Roberts, Bobby Cannavake, Stephen James, Shea Whigham, Alex Karpovsky and Sissy Spacek and revolved around a mysterious government conspiracy involving the Homecoming Transitional Support Centre for returning veterans.
