Ryan Reynolds explains why Deadpool isn’t scared of Batman v Superman, X-Men and Captain America: Civil War

October 8, 2015 by admin

2016 is going to be a stacked year for comic book movies with the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse and Suicide Squad. Also in that list is the smaller budget Deadpool, but one man who isn’t afraid of the competition is the Merc with the Mouth himself, Ryan Reynolds.

So, why isn’t Deadpool afraid of the bigger hitters?

“Deadpool’s greatest superpower is annoying the shit out of people,” he told Total Film. “So I imagine that he would spark a heavy wave of ire from any one of those groups.”

Well, there you have it.

Reynolds also spoke about how the film got the green light from 20th Century Fox after years of development hell. “There has been a lot of talk about how I was instrumental in getting it made, which isn’t true at all,” he said. “I wouldn’t say I spent every single day emailing the studio heads at 20th Century Fox saying, ‘You’ve got to make this movie.’ The fans are the ones that saw that leaked test footage – which really was never meant for anyone besides in-house studio people. That is really what got it made, but what I’m most proud of is we got to make the movie in the way it should have been made, which is rated R at a very modest budget.”

Deadpool is set for release on February 5th 2016 in the UK and February 12th 2016 in the States. Reynolds and Miller will share the screen with Morena Baccarin (Gotham) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) as Ajax, Andre Tricoteux (Seventh Son) as Colossus, Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
