The Walking Dead producer hints that Danai Gurira’s Michonne could appear in the Rick Grimes movie

October 14, 2019 by Liam Waddington

The Walking Dead producer Scott Gimple has hinted that Danai Gurira’s Michonne could appear in the franchise’s Rick Grimes movies when she exits the show in Season 10.

During The Hollywood Reporter podcast with Gimple, the site acknowledged Gurira’s presence of the big screen with her appearances in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame to which Gimple responded stating she “has to participate” in The Walking Dead movies.

“I would say even if she happened not to be a movie star, that would be the case,” Gimple added. “I remember sitting in Black Panther at the premiere and watching her as Okoye, and just sort of sinking into my chair and being like, ‘Oh my God, Danai is a movie star.’ I think she blew away everybody on the screen. She’s always blown us away, but she was our little secret with 17 million people. Now the secret’s out.”

How Gurira’s Michonne exits The Walking Dead is still being kept under wraps and according to the producer of the show, the exit strategy will raise even more questions – may be leaving the door open for Gurira to join Andrew Lincoln’s planned movie trilogy.

Are you sad to see Michonne exit the show? Do you think Gurira should join the planned trilogy of films set in The Walking Dead universe? Let us know in the comments or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
