Legacy Update arrives for Dead Cells

December 24, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Motion Twin and Evil Empire has released the Legacy Update for their metroidvania action platformer Dead Cells.  This massive new update features a whole host of content including new items, mutations and much more….

With this new update players can return to the very first iteration of Dead Cells, back to the days of the game’s Early Access version.  New players will be able to explore the range of features and mechanics that paved the way for the critically acclaimed roguelite, whilst giving those who have been with the game from the start the chance to walk down the streets of nostalgia.

Though the trip down memory lane isn’t all this update brings, the developers couldn’t help but add a few extra bonuses, including two new mutations, rebalancing for the 3 least-used weapons and a Santa skin.

“As dedicated as we have been and remain to growing and refining Dead Cells, we’ve heard from select community members mourning the loss of their personal favorite elements from prior builds,” said Joan Blachere, creative director at Evil Empire. “Our goal with the Legacy Update is to help veteran fans rediscover their favorite moments from Dead Cells’ expansive build archive while letting curious newcomers explore what’s led to the version familiar to them. Giving the gift of time travel while still keeping future updates available to everyone is about as close to a Christmas miracle as we can get.”

The Legacy Update for Dead Cells is available now on Steam.
