The CW sets its leads for The Lost Boys retooled TV pilot

March 1, 2020 by Gary Collinson

After two failed attempts to bring the beloved 1987 vampire flick to the small screen (including last year’s pilot, which failed to get a pick-up but was put back into development), The CW is taking another crack at adapting The Lost Boys as a TV series this year, and now we have word that the network has found its new leads for the retooled project.

As revealed by Deadline, Branden Cook (Industry), Lincoln Younes (Grand Hotel) and Ruby Cruz (Castle Rock) have been cast as the leads in the new pilot and will be taking on the roles originated by Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland and Jami Gertz. However, instead of Michael, David and star, these iterations of the characters will be going by the names Garrett, Benjamin and Elsie.

Created by Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) and Heather Mitchell (Scandal), with Marcos Siega (The Vampire Diaries) directing, the new pilot will stick closely to the plot of the Joel Schumacher-directed film and follow a mother and her two sons who move to the seaside town where she grew up and discover that there’s a sinister reason the local cool kids sleep all day, party all night, never grow up and never get old.
