Marvel taps showrunners for Agent Carter TV series

January 18, 2014 by admin

It looks like Marvel’s rumoured Agent Carter small screen spin-off is moving closer towards becoming a reality, with Deadline revealing that Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas “have quietly boarded” the series, with the Reaper duo set to executive produce.

“We’d be coming on as showrunners and being a part of the series,” Butters tells IGN. “We’re very excited to be included in the Marvel family and to be a part of ABC Studios… [The period setting] is one of the things that drew Michele and I to the project, because she’s such a strong, wonderful character if you’ve seen the [Marvel] one-shot and we’re just very happy to be involved.” Meanwhile Butters also took a moment to comment on the fact that she’s the wife of Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim, suggesting that, ““We’re a Marvel/DC family. We’re all inclusive!”

Although the Hayley Atwell-headlined Agent Carter is yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios, all signs point towards the project joining Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the upcoming Netflix miniseries Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and The Defenders, with ABC Entertainment president Paul Lee stating, “In terms of Agent Carter, the script’s come in. It’s a really good script, written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, so that one certainly has a chance to be on the Network.”

Are you excited at the prospect of an Agent Carter series, or has Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. put you off? Let us know in the comments below….
