Where the Road Runs Out lands with Fairway for AFM 2015

November 7, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Fairway Film Alliance has announced the late addition of Rudolf Buitendach’s multiple film festival award winner Where the Road Runs Out to their American Film Festival (AFM) lineup.

The film stars French Oscar (Cesar) Winner and International Star Isaach De Bankolé (Casino Royale, Cavalry, 24, Manderlay, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai and Chocolat), Juliet Landau (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel and Ed Wood) and South African star and SAG Nominee & American Movie award winner Stelio Savante (The Making of The Mob: New York, Eisenstein in Guanajuato and A Million Colours).

Where the Road Runs Out tells the story of professor George Mensa (Isaach De Bankole), who suddenly finds himself back in the jungles of Africa when an old friend unexpectedly passes away. Inheriting a field station in the mosquito infested jungle, George soon learns that challenges come in all sizes when a local orphan boy Jimmy shows up at his doorstep. George acquaints Jimmy with the joys of chocolate, who in turn plays matchmaker between George and Corina (Juliet Landau), the head of the local orphanage. But all is jeopardized with the sudden arrival of Martin (Stelio Savante) as they discover that life often leads you astray to where the road runs out.

The first feature film to be shot in Equatorial Guinea, the picture was also lensed in South Africa and the Netherlands. The indie picture won Best Narrative Feature at the San Diego Film Festival and Best Director & Lead Actor at the Sunscreen Film Festival. It has also been featured at the Pan African film festival, AFI Silver and Heartland film festivals where it was well received.
