Beanie Feldstein cast in Harriet The Spy animated series

August 13, 2020 by Ricky Church

According to TheWrap, Apple TV+ has ordered an animated series of Harriet The Spy and has cast Beanie Feldstein (How to Build a Girl) in the title role. Joining her in the series will be Jane Lynch (Glee) and Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls).

The series will be set in 1960s New York City and follow “the coming-of-age adventures of the irrepressible Harriet M. Welsch.”

Feldstein’s Harriet is described as “a fiercely independent, adventurous, curious eleven-year-old girl. More than anything, Harriet wants to be a writer, and in order to be a good writer you need to know everything, and in order to know everything, you have to be a spy!”

Lynch will voice Ole Golly, “Harriet’s larger-than-life no nonsense nanny” and Chabert will voice Marion Hawthorne “the ringleader of a group of smug, popular girls at Harriet’s school.”

Harriet The Spy will be written and executive produced by Will McRobb (The Adventures of Pete and Pete) in partnership with The Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford and Rehab Entertainment’s John W. Hyde and Terissa Kelton. Titmouse Animation Studios will animate the series.

Harriet The Spy has been adapted many times, most prominently in the 1996 film starring Michelle Tratchenberg as Harriet and Rosie O’Donnell as Golly.
