Stephen King, the author of The Outsider, has confirmed a second season of the HBO TV adaptation.
Season one of Stephen King’s The Outsider on HBO felt like a fairly self-contained affair, even with the creepy post-credits cliff hanger.
The show covered the entirety of King’s horror book but now, shortly after a cast member confirmed The Outsider wasn’t a limited series, King himself has let the cat out of the bag by telling EW that a second season is on the way:
“There’s going to be a second season of The Outsider as soon as they can get the production going.”
King was asked if he knew what the story would be about and he replied: “I know exactly where it’s going because I have seen some of the scripts. I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you. I’ll just say that it’s really great and a real spooky paranormal element.”

The Outsider follows police detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn), as he sets out to investigate the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson found in the Georgia woods. The mysterious circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Cynthia Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.
The Outsider features a cast that includes Ben Mendelsohn, Cynthia Erivo, Jason Bateman, Bill Camp, Mare Winningham, Paddy Considine, Julianne Nicholson, Yul Vázquez, Jeremy Bobb, and Marc Menchaca.
