Resident Evil movie reboot reportedly receives September 2021 release

December 16, 2020 by Liam Waddington

A Resident Evil reboot film is currently in the works with writer-director Johannes Roberts, the man behind the shark thriller 47 Meters Down and its sequel, helming the project and now, it seems like the release date may have been revealed.

According to Biohazard Cast (via Bloody Disgusting), the Constantin Film site has been recently updated to currently list the upcoming Resident Evil reboot for a release date of September 9th 2021. However, there has been no official confirmation from the studio as of writing this.

The upcoming Resident Evil reboot will reportedly re-tell the iconic story of Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City, but with a new spin of the characters’ origins and the original video game story. The film will star Kaya Scodelario (Crawl) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Arrowverse) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) as William Birkin.
