Season 13 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race is the most watched in the show’s history

January 5, 2021 by EJ Moreno

A good queen never goes out of style, and it seems like RuPaul’s Drag Race is showing no signs of fading away. Deadline reports that the drag queen reality-competition show has seen its most-watched episode in its “herstory.”

The premiere episode of the series 13th season, titled The Pork Chop, saw an insane 1.3 million total viewers. The Emmy-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race also had a rather historical premiere evening, debuting its home VH1, The CW Network, MTV, MTV2, PopTV, and former home Logo.

The new season of Drag Race brings in a new gaggle of queens: Denali, Elliott with 2 Ts, Gottmik, Joey Jay, Kahmora Hall, Kandy Muse, LaLa Ri, Olivia Lux, Rosé, Symone, Tamisha Iman, Tina Burner, and Utica Queen all entered the workroom in hopes of winning the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar. The contestant Gottmik is also making history, becoming the first trans man to compete on the series.

As per Deadline, the full simulcast, across all the networks, delivered a 0.74 P18-49 rating and netted 1.3 million total viewers (P2+). VH1 tallied 525,000 viewers, with The CW earning 478,000 and 111,000 coming from MTV. Smaller networks like Logo, Pop, and MTV2 brought in 58,000 viewers, 116,000, and 27,000, respectively.
