Never Rarely Sometimes Always leads nominations for 2021 Film Independent Spirit Awards

The nominations for the 36th annual Film Independent Spirit Awards have been announced today, with Eliza Hittman’s Never Rarely Sometimes Always leading the pack with seven nominations in total including Best Feature, Best Director (Hittman) and Best Female Lead (Sidney Flanigan).

Nominated alongside Never Rarely Sometimes Always for Best Feature are Kelly Reichardt’s First Cow (three nominations in total), George C. Wolfe’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (five nominations), Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari (six nominations) and Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland (five nominations). Check out all the nominees here…

The winners of the 36th Film Independent Spirit Awards will be announced on Thursday April 22nd.
