Get a glimpse behind the scenes of upcoming seafaring RPG Maritime Calling with new developer video

March 4, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Tiamat Games has released a new behind the scenes video for their upcoming seafaring roguelike RPG Maritime Calling.  In this all new video, the team behind the game chat about crafting an authentic sailing experience.  Watch this video below…

The ‘Making of Maritime Calling’ developer video gives gamers a sneak peak behind the scenes and how the dream of creating the ultimate seafaring game brought them together despite having to tackle the challenge of creating realistic ship buoyancy.

In Maritime Calling players take command of a pre-colonial sailing ship to explore what is beyond the horizon.  As captain of the ship and leader of the adventure players will be required to manage everything from ship maintenance to the wellbeing of the crew, survive deadly ocean hazards and explore uncharted lands, all of which are procedurally generated with each new game.

Featuring:

  • Be a proper captain – Prepare the ship for sailing, ensure maintenance, take measurements of wind, steer away from rocks and more.
  • Be a bossy captain and boss the crew about. Set shift patterns for crew members, resolve quarrels, fairly distribute provisions and booty and manage the crew’s mood.
  • The more players set out to sea the easier it gets. Each successful voyage brings more experience points to give to crew members and build upon specific traits.
  • There’s land out beyond the horizon awaiting discovery. Go seek them out and exploit them for riches.
  • Thanks to procedural map and terrain creation engine the map changes with each playthrough.  Never expect the same thing twice.

Maritime Calling is set to start it’s voyage on PC via Steam later this year.
