Spiral: From the Book of Saw release date pushed forward one week

March 26, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have announced that they are pushing up the release date for Spiral: From the Book of Saw from May 21st 2021 to May 14th 2021.

This isn’t the first time that the latest instalment in the long-running Saw franchise has shifted release dates as the film was originally scheduled for release on May 15th 2020, before being pushed to May 21st 2021 due to the ongoing global health crisis.

“With movie theatres now open in New York and Los Angeles and moviegoers returning to their favourite pastime, Spiral…puts a fresh spin on a favourite franchise. We know that Saw fans, as well as those experiencing their first Saw adventure, will be on the edge of their seats with this thrilling new film. We are proud to support the exhibitors with one of our most eagerly awaited films. We are confident this film will kick off a robust summer moviegoing season,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s President of Distribution, David Spitz.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw is written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger, who also wrote the last instalment, 2017’s Jigsaw, with Darren Lynn Bousman returning to direct the film having previously directed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV.

A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw stars Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols, with Darren Lynn Bousman returning to the world of Jigsaw for the ninth instalment.
