The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard release date pushed forward two months

March 30, 2021 by Liam Waddington

The upcoming action comedy sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard has had its release date pushed up two months from August 20th 2021 to June 16th 2021.

The sequel to 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard was originally scheduled for an August 28th 2020 release before being delayed an entire year to the aforementioned August 20th 2021 date due to the ongoing global health crisis.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard sees bodyguard Michael Bryce’s (Reynolds) plans to swear off violence derailed when hitman Kincaid (Jackson) and his wife Sonia (Hayek) entangle him in their mission to save Europe from a vengeful zealot.

Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, and Richard E. Grant are reprising their starring roles from the 2017 original, while newcomers to the cast include Antonio Banderas, Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo, and Tom Hooper. The follow up sees Patrick Hughes return to direct from a script by Tom O’Connor.
