Netflix’s The Witcher season 2 has wrapped filming

April 2, 2021 by Liam Waddington

According to an Instagram story from hair and makeup stylist Jacqueline Rathore, the second season of Netflix’s The Witcher series has wrapped filming after spending over a year in development.

Filming on the highly-anticipated second season began back in February 2020 but was quickly halted due to the ongoing global health crisis. Production later resumed in August 2020, only to be delayed once again following positive COVID-19 tests on-set.

Although Netflix’s The Witcher series is not an exact 1:1 adaptation of the novels, it’s still safe to presume that the latest season will adapt elements from Andrezj Sapkowski’s third novel, Blood of Elves, with Geralt of Rivia training his adopted daughter Ciri at Kaer Morhen, one of the settlements of the witchers.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. Other cast members include Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, Emma Appleton, Eamon Farren, Joey Batey, Lars Mikkelsen, Royce Pierreson, Maciej Musiał, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte, and Anna Shaffe.

New additions to the cast for the second season include Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Mecia Simson as Francesca, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, and Rebecca Hanssen as Queen Meve.
