Julia Ducournau’s Titane heading to Cannes, mysterious first trailer released

June 27, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Following her explosive and controversial debut film Raw, French filmmaker Julia Ducournau is back with another mysterious movie. Titane is heading to the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, where it will compete for the Palme d’Or.

Little is known about the project, with the studio behind the film Neon only releasing the definition of Titane: “A metal highly resistant to heat and corrosion, with high tensile strength alloys, often used in medical prostheses due to its pronounced biocompatibility.”

With Titane, Ducournau is one of four female directors competing for the Palme d’Or at Cannes 2021. You’ll find Ildikó Enyedi’s The Story of My Life, Mia Hansen-Løve with Bergman Island, and Catherine Corsini, who is premiering La fracture at Cannes at the festival.

Titane is a bit of a noteworthy entry this year as Ducournau is competing for the Palme d’Or with just her second feature directorial effort. Can the French filmmaker shock viewers into winning this most prestigious prize at the festival?

Check out the trailer here…

Titane is written and directed by Julia Ducournau. Starring in the film are Agathe Rousselle and Vincent Lindon.
